Barely a Book Club

Teetering on the edge of a normal book club

Better than the Oscars…and you get to vote! February 27, 2007

This week we will be finishing up EL&IC and will be meeting at Common Ground. I’ll try to reserve the little side room with all the games in it. Right now I’m saying the time is 10:30 because it seems we all love each other’s company so much that the trial 9:00 time did not yield any faster results! Put your thoughts below about a time change.

The voting process is beginning. We have quite a lengthy list but many good books to choose from. Keep in mind that while it may be a good book it may not be a good Book Club book. Voting ends March 5th. Again it doesn’t matter whether you are a regularly attender or not anyone can vote. Due to the length of the list everyone gets 6 votes.

I’m a fan of staying at 10:30 and coincidently also an enemy of change.

shanda- have some girl scout cookies. that might help.

i’ll be missing another saturday this week… which does not give much commiseration to my situation that if cbc is switched to 900 instead of 1030, i wont be able to attend much anymore… unless it is switched ot another day? is that no longer an option? or i could just discuss all the books with shanda instead…

by the way, i think EL&IC is up there on my list with life of pi.

While I was not in attendance at the 9:00 BBC, I hear that things didn’t wrap up until noon anyway. I guess we just all really like each other. Maybe a smaller change might help, perhaps just 10:00. Also not every book we read will result is such scintillating conversation.

Is it just me or do we collectively have a fascination with New York, Jewish folks, and WWII? I counted 6 books with at least one of these elements… (not including the book we’re reading now).

Interesting random sidebar: I met a Holocaust surviver the other day running a hotel in Longmont. She also represented Germany in the Olympics back in the day.

  5. Kylle Says:

You forgot time travel and mythical creatures.

  6. caleb Says:

    Which common ground

  7. Kylle Says:

The one downtown on Wazee and 17th.

  8. Antof9 Says:

Caleb, we missed you! We were all ready to talk about the resolution with the Mom, Ron, etc.

(of course we DID talk about the end, but I just this minute realized we didn’t say a thing about Ron)
