Opening 2009: Reading List January 12, 2009

Here’s our list of books for the first part of the year:
Middlesex
The Story of Edgar Sawtelle
What is the What?
Great Expectations or Bleak House (we can vote when we get there)

Any preferences on where to meet? I thought I had a copy of Middlesex on hand, but I don’t, so I’ll post shortly how far we should read to.

If you know anyone who wants to read one of these books with us, bring them along!

No preference on the meeting place…I’ll probably be behind no matter what as I haven’t gotten the book yet…it’s a crazy awful week we Barkers are having!

  2. Inspector Love Says:

I can’t make it this week, but I’ve started the book. The story is interesting so far… I’m not sure about the quality of the writing. Although the characters are unusual, I don’t get the feeling this book is going to be depressing. There’s a plus…

Hurray for the lack of depression!!!

Since there’s sadly no IL this week, do we want to try the little coffee shop on Bear Creek Blvd?

And I still haven’t gotten the book…so if there’s a consensus to suspend the meeting due to lack of readership, I understand:)

Hurray for lack of depression is right!

Regarding meeting this week: I came here to post that very question! I know the Fabulous Barker Girls have been sick all week, and although I thought I had a copy of the book, I don’t, and I feared the Inspector was the only one reading.

I’m ok meeting at the no-name coffee shop (out of curiosity, if nothing else) or not meeting at all. Kylle — do you have a vote?

  5. Kylle Says:

I to have not ventured out into the world to buy the book. My vote is to wait until the 24th to start up.

I agree — let’s wait until next week! Enjoy sleeping in 🙂
