I know we had talked about movie night but I’m going to have to un-volunteer my house. I got a nasty bug this week and once you hear my cough you won’t want to come over anyway. But someone else is welcome to host.

I knew I wasn’t crazy.
Last week we talked about:
– The poor quality of this translation even though it was translated by the same guy!
– Pitting “Light” againist “Dark” and how they both justified their actions to fit their outcomes. The “Light” still does manipulative things but in the name of good.
– Do we feel as connected to these characters as the ones in Night Watch?
– Should Ant get one egg instead of three and then ask for that egg to be scrambled hard?
Those that came last week decided to meet every week for this book. Also we are reading the book by the stories so by next week be done with the 2nd story (page 302). Let’s meet at the House of Commons.
Day Watch – Two Words January 7, 2008
I totally thought it was one word, which completely stumped me and the Barnes and Noble guy!
Here is our schedule (unless we decide to meet weekly)
January 12th – read up to Chapter 5, page 104
January 19th – no meeting, but if you want a goal read to Chapter 3, page 217
January 26th – read up to Chapter 2, page 341
February 1st or 2nd – either we quietly finish the book or have movie night then discuss the book (Matt said that Day Watch the movie was way better than Night Watch the movie…)
For January 12th would anyone mind if we meet at Le Central for breakfast/brunch? It’s basically across the street from Avianos.

Happy 2008! January 3, 2008
Hope everyone had a safe and happy New Year’s. I personally spent the time watching Season 2 of The Office…that’s what she said.
No meeting this week so everyone can get back on track. For those of you that missed or those of you who care we did go over our little action items.
– Secret Santa – gifts were exchanged and opened, no one cried.
– All of us were sort of torn between meeting every week and every other week. For the time being we will meet every other week until someone says something. But one change is that we will read at our normal pace of reading every week.
– We decided to wing the order of books. So far Daywatch is next.
– We decided that it would be really difficult to do the dinners.
Have a great week and we will reconvene on the 12th.
